Skills
Teach Pallm how to do a kind of task, once, and use it in every chat.
A skill is a folder of instructions for one kind of task: writing in your company’s style, filling in a form, working with PDFs. It’s the same format Claude and other agents use (a SKILL.md file, plus any scripts or templates it points to), so a skill written for Claude works in Pallm as it is.
Chats see each skill’s name and what it’s for. When a request calls for one, the model reads its instructions and follows them.
Add a skill
Open Settings › Skills. From there you can import a skill, read and edit each one’s instructions, and delete them.
You can import from:
- a folder on GitHub, such as one from Anthropic’s skills repository,
- a zip file on the web,
- any
SKILL.mdon the web.
An import brings the files that come with the skill too, not only its instructions.
Skills live in ~/.pallm/skills on the host, one folder each. You can also add or edit them there by hand. They’re shared by every profile on the Mac.
Skills a chat suggests
When a chat works out how to do something you’ll want done again, it can offer it as a skill. The suggestion appears above the message box, and in Settings › Skills, as a draft. Nothing is saved until you read it, edit it if you like, and choose to save it.
A saved skill’s instructions are followed in every chat from then on, so reading it first is the safety check. You can turn suggestions off for your profile in Settings › Skills.
