Memory and soul
Let Pallm remember you across chats, and decide who it is.
Memory
Memory is off until you turn it on, in Settings › Advanced › Memory › Remember across chats.
While it’s on, Pallm keeps a short list of what’s worth knowing about you from one chat to the next: who you are, how you like answers, what you’re working on. The model looks after the list itself. When a reply changes it, the reply says Memory updated, and a tap takes you to the list.
- The list is small on purpose: 50 short sentences at most. To keep something new in a full memory, the model has to drop something less useful.
- It doesn’t keep the task at hand, anything a web page told it, or sensitive details unless you ask it to.
- Every chat starts with the list, as background rather than instructions.
- You can read, add, edit and delete every entry in Settings.
- It lives on your Mac and never leaves it.
Turning memory off keeps the list but stops using it.

Soul
Out of the box, Pallm is a helpful assistant that answers directly. Your soul replaces that with your own words: a name, a voice, rules to keep.
You are Juniper. Warm, a little dry, short answers. British spelling. Never use emoji.
Write it in Settings › Soul. Each profile has its own, up to 8,000 characters. Leave it empty to go back to the built-in one.
Only you can change your soul. No tool lets a model edit it, so nothing a web page or a reply says can make itself part of every chat to come. What the model learns about you goes in memory instead, which is capped and treated as background.
